Standard Feed Net — 35 mm Mesh
Our Standard Feed Net has a 35 mm mesh and holds approximately 13.5 kg of dry hay, making it a practical everyday option for horses that need a generous supply of forage without significantly slowing their normal feeding rate.
The larger mesh allows hay to be accessed more easily than with our Slow Feed Net, while still helping to contain the hay neatly and reduce unnecessary waste. It is well suited to horses that are comfortable eating from a haynet and do not require particularly restricted or prolonged feeding.
With its generous capacity, the Standard Feed Net is ideal for longer feeding periods, including overnight use, helping to ensure that plenty of forage remains available.
It is a good all-round choice for horses that need a substantial quantity of hay while still benefiting from the convenience, cleanliness and controlled presentation of a haynet.
As with any haynet, individual horses will eat at different rates, so we recommend monitoring your horse and choosing the mesh size that best suits their feeding habits and dietary needs.
Slow Feed Net — 25 mm Mesh
Our Slow Feed Net has a smaller 25 mm mesh and holds approximately 13.5 kg of dry hay. It is ideal for horses that need their hay intake managed, or that would benefit from eating more slowly over a longer period.
The smaller mesh encourages your horse to take smaller amounts of hay at a time, helping to extend feeding time. This can be particularly useful overnight or whenever you want hay to remain available for longer without making it too easy to consume quickly.
Slow feeding can support both your horse’s physical and mental wellbeing. By encouraging a more natural, gradual rate of eating and longer periods of chewing, a slow feeder may help to reduce rapid hay consumption, support digestive health and weight management, and reduce long periods without forage.
Keeping horses occupied with forage for longer may also help reduce boredom and associated behaviours such as weaving or cribbing.
Introducing a horse to Slow Feed Net
Every horse is different, and horses vary considerably in how quickly they adapt to a smaller mesh.
If your horse is already accustomed to using a haynet, they may adapt to the Slow Feed Net immediately, while others may need a little more time to learn how to eat comfortably from the smaller openings.
We recommend introducing slow feeding gradually. If your horse initially appears to be struggling, provide some hay in a larger-mesh net alongside the Slow Feed Net. This ensures that they continue to have easy access to forage while becoming accustomed to the smaller mesh.
Always make sure your horse is eating comfortably and receiving an appropriate amount of forage for their individual needs.
Natural Feed Net
Our Natural Feed Net is designed to provide a more open and natural feeding experience, allowing hay to be eaten at a rate closer to unrestricted grazing in a well-maintained pasture.
With its more generous mesh size, it is ideal for larger horses that do not require their hay intake to be significantly restricted. It allows easier access to the hay while still keeping it contained within the ezehay feeder, helping to reduce waste and keep the feeding area tidier.
Because this net allows a relatively fast feeding rate, it is not recommended for small horses or ponies unless used under appropriate supervision. It may also be unsuitable for horses that are prone to overeating or that require controlled forage intake.
